A Conscious Dependence on The Holy Spirit

In our message series, Who Are We?, are looking at who COMMUNITY Covenant Church is as part of a larger group of churches called the Evangelical Covenant Church. There are 6 Covenant Affirmations which are our beliefs or values that show who we are and what we think is important as to how we function as a denomination and conference, as a church, and hopefully how you and I live our faith in life.  

 

Today we are looking at the 5th of our Affirmations:  A Conscious Dependence on The Holy Spirit 

 

  1. Who is the Holy Spirit? – See John 16…
  1. What does the Holy Spirit do?
  • Convicts us of sin - John 16:8 
  • Guides us in truth - John 16:13 
  • Leads us to new life - John 3:5-8 
  • Brings assurance of God's salvation - Romans 8:16 
  • Equips us for service - 1 Corinthians 12:7 
  • Brings unity to Christians - Ephesians 4:3 
  • Is the director of mission - Acts 13:1-4 
  • Intercedes in prayer for us - Romans 8:26-27 

 

The Holy Spirit as our advocate for our salvation - John 16:7-11 

The Holy Spirit as a guarantee of our salvation - Ephesians 1:13-14 

The Holy Spirit helps us live the life of salvation - Galatians 5 & John 15
