The biblical writers use the term “soul” in various ways, but primarily it is used to describe the way we feel and our expression of those feelings. We can see this when the Psalmists exclaim, “Then my soul shall rejoice in the LORD, exulting in his deliverance” (Psalm 35:9) OR “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me?” (Psalm 42:11). The biblical writers use the term “soul” to describe the seat of our emotions.
So, to love God with all our soul is to pour out our feeling to God as an act of worship. “Soul Worship” is responding to God on the emotional level of human experience. (Luke 7:36-50; Psalms 13:2; 25:16; 30:5, 11-12; 126:5)
